About...
My work is primarily constructed using vintage lumber
(because of the character of the old growth grain) re-worked into custom
doors and tables that represent the pre-industrial revolution high quality
craftsmanship. Of course modern machinery is utilized to expedite time,
however no detail is to small. Hand tools are a huge part of my style
leaving subtle to aggressive tool marks (hand planes, chisels) that really
give place to the time invested. The joinery is primary exposed where
possible i.e. bridal joints, spline joints, mortise & tennon, functional
wood pins, giving a marriage of form & function and the finish is possibly
the most important part. I lean heavily to the hand rubbed finish & look,
through various means & processes. In the end my pieces are layers upon
layers of hand work hopefully highlighting "the art of work".
Collaborations welcome.
